Night - Black and White Photography in Ruston, LA

Nighttime is, indeed, the right time, for capturing your favorite places in a different light, literally. I took these photos between 2022 and 2024, most as part of the 30-Day-Creative Gathering in February 2024.

These and other 69 black and white photos are featured in my new book "Night", available here at Lulu.

In Detail - Photos of Details in Every-Day-Life

As part of the 30-Day-Creative-Gathering in September 2024, I captured every-day-life details in black and white photography. Here are my favorite five photos from this series.

A book, featuring all 34 photos of this series is available here, at Lulu.

"Petzval Mod" of a Helios 44-2 lens

The Helios 44-2 58mm f/2 lens is a russian copy of the Carl Zeiss Jena Biotar and it has cult status. One can use this lens to achieve the dreamlike effect, by flipping the front glas element. After flipping, this element sits a little further to the front - that's why this works only with older versions of this lens, which have a slightly longer thread at the front. The following pictures were made using a Helios 44-2 lens from 1971, with the front element reversed.

Washington, DC

Spending a few days in the area, I had the chance to visit Washington DC for one afternoon. Initially, the rain was annoying - but afterwards my photos benefited from the clouds and puddles.

Road Work Ahead

This "Road Work Ahead" sign and its shadow has fascinated me over a few years.

I have used the top picture for the title page of my book "Construction, Building, Work in Progress".

Construction Work in Ruston, LA

In the previous months, everywhere in Ruston, LA, you would find construction work in progress. The construction sites were also inspiring me for a series of black and white photos.

These and 29 other black and white photos are featured in my photobook "Construction, Building, Work in Progress" available here, at Lulu.
